Several measures sponsored and backed by Illinois State Rep. Sam Yingling will become law on January 1, 2017.
“I have worked to pass pro-taxpayer initiatives, pro-environment proposals and measures that make government more transparent,” Yingling said “While I am proud of the progress that we made, I remain committed to enacting more policies that protect hardworking Illinoisans in the year ahead.”
Yingling worked to pass several pieces of legislation including; House Bill 2495, which sets up clear protocols and labeling for recyclable and compostable materials; and House Bill 2554, which helps taxpayers by setting the post mark date as the date filed for tax correspondence in regards to property tax disputes.
Other laws that Yingling supported and are set to become law on the first of the year include; House Bill 228, which puts a moratorium on the creation of new taxing bodies; Senate Bill 792, which mandates taxing bodies create websites so taxpayers can clearly see how their taxes are assessed; House Bill 4259, which aims to end pension abuse by making lobbying groups ineligible to receive tax funded pensions; and Senate Bill 2746, which guarantees women’s health and hygienic products are taxed at lesser rates.
“As we are set to begin a new legislative session, I will continue to prioritize tax relief for middle-class families and to make our local and state government services more efficient and streamlined,” Yingling said. “I look forward to working with both sides of the aisle to accomplish these goals and to give Illinois taxpayers a fair deal.”
